Meet The Team
Founder and marine biologist Rob built Neridia with the aim of showing young people how fascinating and beautiful the marine environment really is. After moving to Yorkshire from East Anglia, Rob saw just how disconnected he felt from the marine world, and realised that many children who grow up in landlocked areas just don’t have the opportunities that he had growing up to learn about these things.
Rob has a lively and enthusiastic approach to teaching, and builds many practical elements into his lessons. He holds qualifications in safeguarding children (level 2), managing a classroom (level 2), pediatric first aid, allergy awareness and has a clear enhanced DBS.
Rob is a working marine scientist and studied marine biology and oceanography in Plymouth. Rob has a specialisation in marine plankton and spends most of his time in a lab. He has worked at sea and around the world and has worked in fisheries, blue carbon and climate change, marine food safety, marine plastics and coastal water quality. He has published works in saltmarsh carbon sequestration and harmful marine algae. Rob brings all of this expertise to his lessons in an accessible manner.
